NTC thermistor resistance and temperature
2020-08-30
NTC thermistor is a type of sensitive components. The resistance value of NTC thermistor generally changes with temperature, which is different from general fixed resistors. It is a type of variable resistor and is widely used in various electronic components. Unlike resistance thermometers that use pure metals, the materials used in NTC thermistors are usually ceramics or polymers.
The positive temperature coefficient NTC thermistor will have a higher resistance value when the temperature is higher, and the negative temperature coefficient NTC thermistor will have a lower resistance value when the temperature is higher, and they are both semiconductor devices. NTC thermistor usually achieves higher accuracy in a limited temperature range, generally -90℃-130℃.
The relationship between NTC thermistor resistance and temperature
The typical characteristic of NTC thermistor is that it is more sensitive to temperature, and can show different resistance values at different temperatures. The positive temperature coefficient NTC thermistor (PTC) has a higher resistance value when the temperature is higher, and the negative temperature coefficient NTC thermistor (NTC) has a lower resistance value when the temperature is higher, and they are both semiconductor devices.
